Andrew Scott, aka NY*AK, Scott has remained a consistent representative of the music scene and we're delighted to have him on board for the first release of 2018 on Local Talk, Bound EP. We're treated to four tracks, the opening track 'Bound' is a cut up, soulful disco house slammer. Next up we got Dancing, a perfect example of Andrew's skill when it coms to slowing down the tempo but still letting the track have enough character to keep you...'dancing'. On the flip we got 'See More' which takes you straight to a dark and gritty club with it's stuttering chords, tight drums and pulsing bass. Last but not least we got 'Sandwiches' which features long time collaborator Ian Blevins. A stunning low deep groove for any Theo Parrish or Marcellus Pittman fans out there.

Andy Scott likes to keep things physical with a hardware setup that includes a trusty MPC, Juno 106 and a couple of Roland drum machines. Starting things off with ‘Curtis’, Scott achieves a warm, sample heavy cut that chops up dusty kicks, acoustic guitars and certain soul legend’s signature vocals. He’s reminiscing about the golden years of hip-hop here and nails it with this nostalgic groove.‘Flint’ picks up the pace with a hypnotic bassline, crisp high hats and sustained vocal samples to build tension around a skillfully placed spoken word verse. On the flip, Scott slows it down again for the EPs title track ‘Laid’. A relaxing and sonically intoxicating rhythm that calms your senses and clears your mind. ‘1988’ rounds everything off with some truly soulful vocals and comforting synth chords.
