It was way back in 1998 when Boo Williams' "A Little Something For You" first appeared on Chicago imprint Guidance Recordings. Now regarded by deep house diggers as an overlooked classic, it has finally been given the reissue treatment courtesy of Groovin' Recordings. It remains one of Williams' finest single outings, with the warm, organ-rich Illinois deep house and Motor City futurism fusion of "Chi-Town Techno" still sounding ahead of its time 21 years after the veteran producer recorded it. Highlights are plentiful elsewhere, too, with jazzy and chunky deep house number "Fairytale (Pride)" and the cowbell-laden, Cymande-sampling brilliance of EP opener "Jew Dan" standing out.

Mondee Oliver's 1991 gem "Make Me Want You" has been crying out for a reissue given the multitude of inferior house releases that have been released since the beginning of the 2010's. Even more special, Oliver was a prominent jazz singer decades earlier, but began to appear on dance tunes at the dawn of the rave era. This is one of those releases, a mesmerising house voyage that has all the right ingredients in the right combination - deep, humming bass tones, a hypnotic set of keys at its core, and exactly the right vocals to take it from sensibile to edgy. There are several versions on here, including an ace acapella for the heads.

While the original mixes of Gallifre's Larry Heard co-produced '89 deep house groover were naturally superb, it was always the remix 12" that the majority of DJs reached for. That's because it contained a pair of brilliant Frankie Knuckles remixes in his distinctively luscious, loved-up style. As this timely reissue proves, those reworks have lost none of their allure. Knuckles' "Club Remix", which is built around warm and tactile analogue bass, rich chords and Mondee Oliver's sublime vocal, is undoubtedly the stronger of the two for club plays, though the shorter "Dream Remix", with its rush-inducing ambient sections and nods towards contemporaneous Italian deep house, is arguably even better. Simply essential.

Taken from the well-received “Comedic Afrika” CD, which was Produced and Compiled by Joaquin Joe Claussell, Cosmicdelic Afrika PT1 is a collection of (demos) that Joaquin has been in the studio working on in his spare time. The Vinyl format PT1 consists mostly of extended Edits and Overdubs from the CD. The Part 2 of the series will feature the original Joaquin Claussell compositions. PT 2 is stated for a release that will follow shortly after the Cosmicdelic Afrika PT1 release. Similar the previously released CD, the vinyl version will include musical jewels such as Amadou et Miriam’s “Bara” which is no longer available on Vinyl and going for big bucks on the open market- that is if you can find a copy. This will be a limited Pressing.

He begins this latest EP in confident mood, joining the dots between vintage New Jersey garage and bouncy deep house on "Less Pain", before wrapping slipped '80s synth-pop chords around a killer (machine) percussion track. Best of all, though, is title track "One of a Kind", a luscious chunk of slowly unfurling deep house positivity rich in ear-pleasing synthesizer motifs, surging chords and rush-inducing musicality.

In a rare exception from their usual hyper-obscure archive finds, Best Record have opted this time to give a proper reissue to a diggers favourite which enjoyed a second turn in the spotlight via a Dimitri From Paris compilation on BBE. Radiance and Andrea Stone's "You're My Number 1" is everything a boogie jam should be, from the liquid funk of the bassline to the snap of the drums - we defy anyone to stay off the floor when this pearl drops. It's no surprise to know it was mixed by the legendary M&M Productions team, featuring disco mix champion John Morales. The original is ace, but the extended dub mix on the flip is the one that will have the heads freaking out.

Not to be mistaken for the charity pop behemoth, this Band Aid were a band from Bologna that released a handful of albums and singles in the early 80s. Best Italy have dug out this loose and limber slice of sunny funk and given it a spruce up with a little help from Early Sounds crew member Pellegrino, whose "Mediterranean Version" of "A Tour In Italy" adorns the A side. It's all peppy brass, dreamy guitars and a kooky vocal line about the titular tour, guaranteed to break out some smiles on the dancefloor. On the B side you can indulge in Tony Carrasco's original vocal and dub versions, all of which equally exude summery vibes to keep you warm through the winter months.
