We're now halfway through the Treisar series and Moscoman shows no sign of slowing down. Next up is Donkey Jumps Ahead. The sixth chapter kicks off with 'Big Jack Arbon', an unambiguous summer anthem tied up by digital steel drums and pitched chants. On the flip, 'Things Forgot To Be This Way' calls for the never-ending daze of the afterhours with Disco infused melodies and distant vocals floating atop doped down beats. Closing track 'Unheard Melody' sets a different pace. Wistful Mediterranean guitars pick unhurried melodies while delays cloud the track in just the right amount of sleaze.

Moscoman continues his Treisar journey with the stunning Snake & Pygmy EP. On the A side lies the gorgeous trance inducing Snake In A Hat, an uplifting intergalactic voyage gliding through layers of synths, twinkling piano notes and melancholic melodies that skilfully progresses into pure bliss. On the flip, the pace slows down with Pirate Of The Lost Ark. This dark mesmeric number features Moscoman's signature gritty bass style, rolling snare drums and swirling synths all mantled in mind bending effects. The bpm rises again on the closing track Forget The Rest, an irresistible amalgam of dreamy keys and rumbling drums, punctuated by a catchy electronic funk. Snake & Pygmy is the second of twelve releases for Moscoman's Treisar label.

Ahead of the release of his much anticipated debut album on ESP Institute, Moscoman delivers a top-notch teaser of what we can expect. Perhaps riffing off the Edwin Birdsong track that Daft Punk famously sampled, "Mexican Cola Bottle Baby" is undeniably atmospheric, with starry, whistling synth lines tumbling down over a dense, African-influenced, live-sounding tribal drum groove. Arguably even better are the accompanying Peaking Lights remixes. While the hazy, tactile instrumental is quietly impressive, we're much preferring the original remix, where trippy female vocals combine impressively with acid-influenced bass, undulating electronics, dreamy melodies and copious amounts of dub delay.

Mosco fell asleep in Tel Aviv and awoke days later in Berlin. This is his first offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, 'Akachi' plows straight in with its relentless rolling bassline, a thick blanket enveloping any and all breathing room. An array of squelches and atonal pads struggle to rise above the trudging rhythm, while live percussion slides in and out of frenzy. On the flipside, 'Nobody Else' shows us Mosco's more ethereal side. Beautifully programmed drums draw us in as the accentuated hi-hats and claves elegantly pierce rhythmic synth work, until finally we're carried away by mystic keys layering in heavenly glissandos. These two songs will make you thirst for potent potions.
