Berlin based talent Black Loops arrives on Madhouse Records to deliver his four-track ‘JAH Love’ EP this April, featuring two cuts alongside Nikoss. With releases on Toy Tonics, Freerange, Pets Recordings and Neovinyl to name just a few, Riccardo Paffetti aka Black Loops has built a stellar reputation as one of house music's most consistent and impressive names since making his production debut back in 2013. A skilful hand both within the studio and behind the decks, the Italian's slick blend of deep and soulful house music takes cues and inspiration from funk, disco and beyond, with his latest batch of productions coming in the form of his ‘JAH Love’ EP on Madhouse Records this April, featuring New Zealand producer and musician Nikoss.

It was only a matter of time before we could announce a release from Black Loops here on Freerange and finally the time is now. The Italian producer now residing in Berlin has had a solid few years rising through the house music ranks through releases on respected labels such as Pets, Toytonics, Gruuv and Neovinyl. Last year he was awarded best Deep House Artist by Traxsource (based on sales and chartings) and he has since been remixing for the likes of Luke Solomon, Ponty Mython, Theo Kottis and Joey Negro. His broad-ranging influences taking in funk, soul, disco and 90’s NY house inform a depth, warmth and musicality to his productions which has seen him in demand DJing around the world and makes him an obvious fit for us here on Freerange.

Since starting their career with a couple of well-regarded EPs on Toy Tonics in 2013, Black Loops has been label hopping. This return to the German imprint follows four years spent churning out EPs for Gruuv, Neovinyl and, most recently, Pets Recordings. Opener "Le Mirage" is a bustling and bass-heavy affair, with melodic deep house pleasantries wrapping themselves around a chunky, U.S-garage influenced groove. The rhythmic skip and bass-heavy bounce continues on "Red Light", where fuzzy electric piano parts come to the fore, while "Sex (Part 2)" effortlessly joins the dots between the hazy loveliness of Italian dream house and the bustle of classic Kerri Chandler records. 'Sex", which boasts a wonderfully sleazy spoken vocal, completes another ear-pleasing package.
