That Shake Tapes heat keeps on coming from Dan Shake's idiosyncratic corner of the groove, and this time he's not the only one causing mischief all over the platter. The record kicks off with a deadly, bubbling lick of Phreek's cheeky wigged out disco burner, "I'm A Big Freak," banged to rights by Shake himself, and he's also at the rains for the soulful strut of "It's Like That". Jamie 3:26 slam dunks a fireball of fierce, stomping disco at its loudest and proudest with "Were You Ready For That", and then Keith Lorraine fires off a masterful blitz of dubbed-out tough 80s grooves on "Autodrive".

Dan Shake's Shake Tapes project just keeps on coming with the good stuff, each installment broadening the scope of just what this multifarious DJ and producer is capable of. This time around there's heated, salsa soaked jazz to be enjoyed on "La Descarga Del Bobo", while "Sixty-Two Fifty" twists off into bugged out jazz funk territory. "De I Comahlee Ah" is a rough and red-lining piece of party jazz, and "Nobu" finishes the EP off with a surprisingly tech-injected kind of, you guessed it, jazz. Whatever your preference as far as jazzy sounds, there's something for everyone on this 12".

After a storming first installment, Dan Shake is back with another volume of his Shake Tapes, presenting his unique taste for disco, funk and other such obscurities in the form of thoroughly respectful edits. "Fantasy" is an impassioned, lively slice of uptempo disco funk the practically springs out of the speakers with its powerful brass section and sweet soul vocals. "Gimme Some" cools down to an easier pace, but there's no less funk packed into this classic party starter. On the B-side, "Magic Carpet" gets a little more treatment in terms of delay touches and looped up sections that stretch out this dreamy slice of disco funk.
