"Sickos" pulls our head out of the trip for long enough for us get down on the floor with some swingin' and slammin' action which delicately positions fluttering keys over shoulder dropped drums and saturated bass. There's a heavier, moodier dub of the title track too, while the flip's "Mercury" goes into more progressive territories, and "Blue" driving an almost jazzy, balearic excursion. Japan's HHATRI could possibly be the hottest label dropping pure house bombs from the east-side of the world. Takecha aka Takeshi Fukushima contributes the heat for round five - a producer who has played a part in creating some of the most seminal pieces of house music that have originated from Japan ("Kind of Deep" was released on his own imprint, GWM records, in 1995 and is one of house music's last remaining holy grails, with only 100 copies ever available). Here the producer returns to form with "A Tale of Shiga"; four gorgeous tracks that provide some insight into his own creative, albeit humble genius and approach to producing music. The name of the band and the cover of the disc explicitly reveal the influence: Secos & Molhados. Investing in androgenia, progressive rock and samba-soul, Assim Assado tried to be a response of the small CID label to the enormous success that the Secos & Molhados did to the young public. Led by Miguel de Deus (formerly Os Brazoes), who signed most of the compositions and assumed the guitar and vocals, the group never took off, leaving only this LP, now almost forgotten. Curiosity: in 1977 Miguel de Deus falls headlong into funk, casting the rather interesting (and rare) "Black Soul Brothers" Also repressed on Groovie Records.

Previously, Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer have delivered some deliciously epic remixes that sound more like freestyle electronic jazz epics than stripped-back minimal techno chuggers. It's perhaps fitting, then, that they've been given a chance to rework two tracks from Swedish jazz drummer-turned-electronic experimentalist Samuel Ruhrer's recent album, Range of Regularity. Together the Berlin-based duo tackles "Uncertain Grace", creating a mind-altering concoction rich in frazzled electronic pulses, chiming melodies, delay-laden drum hits and deep-sea textures. Villalobos goes solo on the flip to lay down a typically intoxicating, off kilter, acid-flecked minimal techno interpretation of "Lenina". The Chilean keeps things fresh by incorporating fluttering flute passages and broken electronics.

Here's another dose of attractive anonymity from Rora sub-label ODE, an imprint that has failed to disappoint since popping up back in 2013. As usual, information is thin on the ground, and there are no track titles. What's on offer, though, is predictably solid. The party-focused A-side provides a speeded-up, tooled up interpretation of a toasty, breakbeat-fuelled 1991 dancefloor classic (one previously reissued a decade ago, with accompanying remixes, by Hi-Phen). Slightly more revolutionary is the rolling B-side, which makes merry with bouncy beats, squelchy electronics, and a handful of synth and vocal samples from a well-known Prince record.
