To mark his second artist album on his own Millionhands label in July, Tee Mango teases with a fantastic second EP from it featuring remixes from Hidden Spheres (Lobster Theremin, NTS), Kiwi (Futureboogie, Optimo, Life & Death) and Hubie Davison (Regraded). The fantastic full length finds the UK artist stretch himself and serve up a dazzling array of soul-drenched, vocal-laced songs featuring his own singing and influenced by the likes of Prince and Bon Iver, alongside awesome gyuest vox from Detroit funk legend and former Funkadelic member Amp Fiddler.

Description:

Millionhands head honcho Tom Mangan is back as Tee Mango on Aus Music - this would be his third appearance on the label in less than a year - which speaks volumes really. EP#2 features the lo-slung sexiness of "Make It Last Forever" featuring that awesome Inner Life sample throughout. On the flip, we have the funky deep-disco bounce of "Wazoo" that's perfect mood lighting for the early evening, while something a bit more energetic and harder hitting exists in the form of "Prototypical". A soulful and emotive house journey featuring gritty rhythms, a tough bouncy bassline and trippy stabs that's perfect to take crowd into the later hours - we absolutely loved this one!

We've had our eyes and ears on Tee Mango for a while now. His debut album 'Imperfections' is a future classic in our book and the Tribute series has been part of our DJ-sets for a while now. In short - we had to get him to do an EP for Local Talk. DADHAUS EP is forward-thinking music with an edge (undoubtedly sharpened through countless studio hours). Tee channels the deep house flavours of Detroit and Chicago across four tracks of exquisitely executed percussion and 'sample-not-sample' work. It's another winner from the man like Tee Mango.

After scoring a flawless hat trick of sampledelic house bangers on his Tribute imprint in 2015, Tee Mango keeps the fire burning under this Theo inspired project with another pair of flawless, floor shakers. "Time Is Up" opens proceedings, charting a course between Inner City's sci fi techno and DJ Sprinkles era Motor City Drum Ensemble as crisp percussion cuts through shimmering arpeggios and nebulous synths. The space dust clears around the midpoint, leaving room for the classic Detroitian vocal sample and one shot filtered Rhodes to blow us away. Over on the other side, "You & Them" is all short looped disco bass and saturated afro moog with heavy use of the delay pedal and a simple vocal refrain - “It was you & them against the world… and we survive together”. This sounds like Afefe Iku battling it out Paperclip People era Carl Craig. These Tribute releases sell out pretty quick, my hunch is that these will not hang about.
