Verona disco hero Marco Dionigi is back on a new sub label from his relentlessly impressive Quantistic Division titled QND Philosophy, which follows up a brilliant opening release with Balearic legend and close collaborator Daniele Baldelli. There's one seriously dirty and rockin' arpeggio on "Spectrum" supported by some guitar riffs and classic synth solos. The "Funky mix" does exactly what it says on the tin, kind of! With some wacky pan pipes and some serious overuse of said guitar riffs, that sleazy disco guitar comes into the mix gloriously later on. Finally there's some sexy cold wave vibes on the gloomy and raw temperament of "Secret Area" which sounds like early In Aeternam Vale or the like.

The mysterious Waffles series, rumoured to be the work of Belgian legends Soulwax, has been one of the success stories of 2016. It has succeeded, in part, due to the eccentricity of much of the source material. There's plenty more madness on this fifth volume in the series, with A-side "Aqua Dolphin", offering a skewed fusion of razor-sharp, acid-style electronics, mind-altering new beat rhythms, and plenty of weird, chopped-up vocal samples. Flipside "Computer" boasts similarly psychedelic acid lines, alongside gravelly, end-of-days vocals, synth riffs seemingly inspired by the original 1988 version of The KLF's "What Time Is Love", and a head nodding, toe-tapping breakbeat rhythm. We have no idea what the original source material is, but it's a deliciously weird and wonderful re-edit.

Beverly Glenn-Copeland is already known amongst collectors and music heads for two sought after albums of folky jazz in the key of Joni. It was this album, originally self-released on cassette in 1986 that caught the label's attention. The album, entirely recorded on DX-7 and TR-707, lies somewhere between digital new-age and (accidentally) early Detroit techno experiments. The inimitable style of BGC here is both peaceful and meditative while simultaneously rhythmic and bass heavy. The album was recorded in the northern Canadian town of Huntsville where BGC was living at the time and is a beautiful fusion of personal vision, technology and place. Issued here for the first time on vinyl, with a full restoration and re-master.
