Killer release on Uncanny Valley related Shtum label. Their latest offering is none other than Avalon Emerson, who hits hard with her first appearance on the Dresden-based label with a record full of techno beauties. "Constantly My Cure (Vocal Mix)" features vocals by Avalon herself that ride on an unstoppable acid-driven bassline towards a forceful and paradoxically cold yet warm climax. "Constantly My Cure (Plan Around Me Dub)", offers an instrumental redux that's less ambiguous in its intentions -- this one's aimed straight for maximum dancefloor effect. "Sword and Rose Forever" shows once again that she knows how to create relentless club music imbued with beautifully bittersweet atmosphere. The EP closes with the punch of "Hurdy Gurdy DJ Tool," a break-laden machine-piston of a rhythmic workout that's made for those selectors who want to set fire to the floor and jam the energy up to a frenetic peak. Recommended! Once again, the illustration on the B-side label is by Aram Haydeyan.

Discription:

The latest release from Brooklyn's Wonderwheel label sees the return of Ocote Soul Sounds, the long-running collaboration between Antibalas founder Martin Pera and Adrian Quesada, co-founder of the Latin music powerhouse Grupo Fantasma. A Pesar La Vida is actually their debut for Wonderwheel and a fine 7" to boot, with Ocote Soul Sounds calling on the talents of Chico Mann and Quantic to make it all the more special. Naturally "A Pesar La Vida" sees Mann step up for lead vocals, ably assisted by the backing singers, whilst Will Quantic's enviable musicianship comes to the fore on guitar and accordion. On the flip, McFerrin's cover of the Lennon & McCartney favourite, From Me To You, is completely re-imagined by young Bopperson, giving it a foot friendly percussive shakedown, whilst adding some serious, face melting bass.

Another Blaze historic production in collaboration with a New York underground legend, Cassio Ware. Originally released on Street Style in 1992, this reissue duplicates the OG artwork and comes complete with all five mixes. While Asja and Elan's version comes correct with all the good stuff - rich pianos, warm bass and soulful vox; Baby Donovan's Love Mix takes the track deeper and to the Shelter with its gospel organs and shuffled beat. On the flip The "Chord" mix is a thick and powerful version, perfect for tickling the sub woofers of your favourite PA while the niggly synth licks and seductive vocal snatches keep us hooked on the groove. Finally, "Dub Mix" completes the set and is the most gentle offering on the wax. Keeping the vocal intact Cassio drenches the mix in glassy pads and adds a simple hi-hat. More like an embellished acapela rather than a dub. Exceptional stuff.

"Level 1" starts the set in unfathomably deep mode, fusing filtered funk motifs, expansive pads and metallic hats with rumbling basslines, hitting the middle ground between Pepe B and Kerri C. Next up, "Level 2" charters a flight from eighties Detroit to contemporary Sheffield with a bass heavy remake of Inner City's evergreen "Good Life". The sumo-sized bassweight continues on "Level 3", perfectly balanced by classy Rhodes and smudged vocals at the top end. The flipside opens in hypnotic fashion as "Level 4" serves dreamy keys and Mandre moog lines over a skipping garage beat, keeping the heads down and the feet in constant motion. Last but not least, we're hit with the Nuyorican flavours of "Level 5", a sultry house roller built out of Afro-Cuban jazz piano and dextrous percussion which would go down a storm at Body & Soul or Keep It Unreal. More floor ticklers from the mystery men.

間もなく<Crue-L Records>からアルバムをリリースする注目すべき日本人プロデューサーKeita Sano新作が到着！！文句なくパワー・レコメンデッド！！

The EP begins on a jazzy tip with the sample heavy drive of the titular "Miles." Deep and percolating, it features a jigsaw puzzle of piano riffs, vocal blips and symphonic murmurings that build into one neatly designed sonic sculpture. Never one to be satisfied with the ordinary, Sano breaks it all down with a trumpet-led interlude that evokes the muted coolness of the track's namesake. "Blue" constructs a similarly jazz-indebted sonic tapestry. Its chugging, almost tribal drums provide a trance-inducing rhythmic base for a moody mix of saxophone wails and lush keyboard runs. And while jazz may seem like an overarching theme, Sano finishes the record with a blur of digitally chopped ritual chanting on "Varna." Complete with jittering voices, droning gongs and weaving calls to prayer, it's the kind of weirdo psychedelic track that'd perfectly soundtrack the shift from a late-night to an early morning.

NY地下シーンで活躍するイタリアン気鋭Madteoが立ち上げた新興レーベル第1弾が絶対マスト・チェック！！DJ Sotofett傑作エディット搭載！！

Excellent new record delivered to us through Fit distro in Detroit. US odd-ball tape mangler Madteo joined by crazed Scando tripper DJ Sotofett. "VC Disco Mix" sees Sotofet edit Madteo's sample-based jam. Simply executed but with lashings of infectious groove, this is one of those secret jams Theo Parrish would tease us with for months before anyone knew what it was. I have no idea where the sample's from but it's got that crunchy 80s proto-house / freestyle sound nailed down with sexy female vocal snatches riding the tough-ass beat. On the flip we get two experimental noise jams from Madteo. "The Guiding Wand Principle" sticking out particularly due to excessive lazer beam sounds and layers of crackly static. Absolutely bonkers, but then I wouldn't expect anything else from Madteo and Sotofett! Recommended.
