Four songs of romance and reverie, taking you through a dizzying jazz journey, full of twists and turns; starting with emboldened trumpets, only to end on a handful of quaint piano notes. As dusk settles upon the dunes, the mirage has now vanished, and the forlorn hope turns into a soul-searching journey.

The Italian disco masters are back with four heavy funk-fuelled vinyl cuts. Cabasa has off-kilter bass, Rhodes, dirty drums and grainy samples knitted together in to a groove heavy enough to get your Gran going. Hypnotic, trippy and disco at its finest. Congo Club goes full cowbell and 80's drums. A chanted vocal wonks out over a Rhodes that weaves all kind of magic, then the lead drops and critical mass is reached. The title track cracks on at a pace with synth strings, flanging bass, distorted drums and keys tying it all together. Latin percussion is dropped over a a sung sample and the swing is on. Summer of Sam takes a more soulful diversion but keeps a foot firmly in the disco camp. The track builds with spacey atmospherics in to a track that will work in any situation.

Don Laka, short for Donald Laka, is a South African jazz and funk musician. He was a very influential musician in the 80`s and 90`s, working with the likes of Sipho Mabuse, Brenda Fassie, and Sankomota. In 1986 he released a four track EP, Stages of love. The track Stages, an upbeat, synth-driven disco song, has never been released like this before. Here you have the original song, wonderfully pressed on a whole side. The other side contains a delicious Prins Thomas edit, almost nine minutes of high octane South African discoboogie. Nebraska's Friends & Relations series continues to deliver the goods as another no nonsense slab of sample-a-delic house delights lands on our platters. There is a fine balance struck between familiarity and obscurity on these edit-esque productions, where you might well recognise the odd break or sample, but Nebraska applies a deft touch to keep things mysterious and fresh. There is funk spilling out of the grooves like you wouldn't believe, from rugged basslines to heavy vibing keys, with splashes of dub FX and a little cosmic dust sprinkled on top for good measure. A former reggae and soul studio that was instrumental to the output of influential artists like Soul II Soul and more, a steady diet of reggae, bass, hip-hop, house and techno kept their edgy, and diehard UK sound and style right at the cutting edge of the dance music underground across the globe with the top DJs and producers of the day celebrating the label. The studio, helmed by label owner Tony ‘Addis’, acted as an incubator for artists whose names would go down in the history books.

Publicity-shy Parisian Pepe Bradock is more than worthy of his cult status. Even so, it would be nice of him to give a bit of warning when he's about to drop a new 12". Exodus 8, his first outing of 2018, pretty much turned up with no prior warning. A-side "Is This Really A Party?" is, somewhat surprisingly, a much more straight-forward dancefloor track than we've come to expect. Although there are plenty of weird jazz samples and straight noises, the sludgy, bass-heavy rhythm track tips a wink to his lauded, turn-of-the-millennium deep house workouts. Flipside "Grandgousier" boasts some seriously snappy and bumping beats, with the eccentric French producer smothering it in more quirky electronics, delay-laden, barely audible vocal samples and trippy effects.

Lush and deep, this 3 tracker is a straight vibe beginning to end, from the uptempo bounce of Here’s To You Mr. Robinson, the whimsical lilt of Make Me Feel and the absolutely stunning slow burner Where You Belong, which gets a glorious side all to itself on this pressing. Alongside this, an expertly extended JN edit of American electro-funk duo The APX's boogie bomb 'Lose Yourself To The Groove', ready set for the dancefloor. Also housed on this release, a Doug Willis raw edit of Carlos Romanos - 1 2 1 and a remake of one of Joey Negro's most played disco cuts 'K - Jee'. A track which holds a special place in JN's heart - the MSFB rework nestled on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack which happened to be the first LP Dave Lee (JN) ever bought.
