A fair few DJs will go weak at the knees when they spot this collaboration between Workshop overlord Kassem Mosse and Fit Sound supremo Fit Siegel. The three tracks showcased on the EP were actually recorded in Detroit back in 2016, though Siegel only got round to completing finished versions last year. There's much to enjoy throughout, from the snappy, slightly wayward machine drums, slowly shifting TB-303 acid lines and subtle Detroit electronics of "Saboten", to the dubby late night hypnotism of closing cut "Cycle Blue", where woozy intergalactic chords, blissful piano motifs and vaguely threatening electronic pulses cluster around fizzing drums and a suitably bubbly bassline.

Despite the matter-or-fact title, there's little ordinary or mediocre about the three tracks that make up Levon Vincent's first EP of 2019. Check, for example, the untitled A-side cut, where glassy-eyed, old school style piano riffs and fluid solos ride a chunky, thickset retro-futurist groove. It's quite deep in tone, despite the loved-up musical elements on show, but also feels like an underground anthem in the making. Over on side B, Vincent first combines Steve Reich style cyclical marimba loops with wonky club beats and warm deep house chords, before peppering a locked-in rhythm track with intergalactic synthesizer melodies and ultra-deep atmospherics.

鉄板の復刻リリースが毎回好評を博している<Favorite Recordings>から近年急騰してきたというフランスの知られざるインディー・ディスコ・ファンク/AOR超傑作アルバムが正規リイシュー！！名店「Organic Music」でも紹介されていた1枚です！！

Favorite Recordings presents this new official album reissue of State of Emmergency by French band The Fizz: A real underrated, complete and intriguing album, originally released in 1986 as a private-press LP and quite hard to find in good conditions nowadays. The Fizz is mostly the result of Patrick Jouanneau, a French musician, composer and producer who’s still active today. He remembers: “In the early 80's I had a recording studio allowing me to easily fulfil my desire to create songs. It was then that I began to compose and write songs, in French or in English in this case. State Of Emergency (spelling on the LP is a mistake), is born from a fierce will on my part, and the other four have followed, but it was not easy, the musicians, you have to get them out of bed! I have to say that Richard Laroze, the pianist, was a very strong guy with harmonies, and has somewhat changed my first version, much more oriented in Soul and R&B.”

Our first release of 2019 is a sublime EP from Australian talent Loure. Utilizing live session musicians to create four tracks of Jazz influenced Deep House.‘Hope Circuitry’ is a twin movement opening track that starts the EP off with a dreamy introduction of gospel vocals and a soulful piano. Loure then flips the switch on the track and roots it firmly on the dancefloor with a big funk bassline and re-chopped samples of itself. Up next is ‘Streets’ a smokey Jazz number effortlessly layered with sultry vocals, brushed drums and sweet sweet brass instrumentation...to be continued...

Way back in 1992, Kerri Chandler - then in the early days of his career - joined forces with vocalist Christopher McCoy to pay tribute to Club Shelter, a now legendary NYC house venue that had opened its doors a year earlier. As this reissue proves, the track has lost none of its potency in the 25 years since its release. McCroy is in fine form on the main vocal mix which kicks off A-side, extolling the virtues of "The Shelter" over Chandler's killer mixture of synth bass, skippy, New Jersey style drums and wild organ stabs. He adds impassioned freestyle version to the similar tasty Dub and the impeccably stripped back "Freeman" mix. A fine package is completed by Chandler's rock solid instrumental version.
