Archeo Recordings chart a course for the Balearics with this laid back delight of overlooked Italian island grooves. Tony Esposito is a long-serving singer-songwriter, and two tracks from his 2004 CD Viaggio Tribale get a vinyl cut here. "Dove C'e Luce" gets a special, 90s tinged remix from LucaEffeSunset. Antonio Nicola Bruno's "Storia Della Terra Mia" is the first of three unreleased tracks from this little known Lucan artist, striking a curious note with folk undertones and a sunny disposition. There's a more dramatic tone to "Danza E Ridanza," which takes on an almost Talking Heads-esque quality for the "B Version" that closes this high quality 12" from the ever reliable Archeo camp.

The 20/20 Vision offshoot Basic Vision continues to mine the folklore of the legendary Back To Basics with a selection of carefully selected deep cuts from the history of house music. Chris Cuevas' "Hip Hop" already sounded strong when Masters At Work chunked it up in dub form, and then Rob Mello perfected the jam when he performed an extended edit on the breakbeat fuelled jam. Eddie Fowlkes' "Where Will I Be?" is a classic slice of 90s vocal house, while Free Energy is an uptempo deep house jam for those feel good peak time moments. Black Science Orchestra sound utterly timeless on the soaring "New Jersey Deep," laying the soul on thick and keeping things fresh and funky throughout.

The three tracks he's presented here are essentials in anyone's collection, leading in with the arresting deep house swirl of Mood II Swing's "Infinity dub" of "Flame" by Crustation. 51 Days' "Paper Moon" is a more emotionally flamboyant jam, but no less unique and curious in its make up, all cinema strings and bubbling keys with a seriously sensual undercurrent. Terence FM's "Feelin Kinda High" is absolute deep house gold dust, all massive drums and punchy bass, addictive vocal and naught else.

Late last year, we modestly celebrated the sixth anniversary of LPH Records by releasing a 10-inch that reconnected us with our very first EP by bringing back two of the artists who contributed to it, Runaway and Soft Rocks. Now, as a sort of companion to that, we have LPH___VI , a 7-inch that gives shine to a couple other names that have been spotted on LPH party flyers of old and back catalog credits, Jacques Renault and Daniel T. Both these are fun, flavorful little disco nugs united by funky bass guitar fretwork and plenty of sassy woodblock, though Jacques’ leans towards the goofy and daffy, whereas Daniel’s brings some synth-pop seriousness into the frame. As befits the format, both hover around four minutes in length.

Adesse Versions is undoubtedly a canny fella. Few others would have thought have re-casting Yardborough & Peoples' "Don't Stop The Music" is a sweaty acid jam, but that's exactly what he's done here. It sounds like he's replayed the bassline on a TB-303, accompanying it with clattering drum machine percussion, wonky acid lines and a plethora of delay-laden vocal samples. It's a simple idea, brilliantly executed. Elsewhere, he cuts up a well-known, disco-era soul groover and turns it into a chunky house loop-jam ("Slide"), before beefing up the beats and reaching for the TB-303 once more on disco-acid stomper "Kameleon".
