Larry and Bell are two musos from the east and west of the Atlantic, who met on a scuba trip in Belize in '99. Larry plays Bongos, Bell is on the organic sampler and echo pedal, and a local cast of musicians backed them up on Guitar, Double Bass, and Kick Drum. After a few Rum Daiquiris and many spliff, these are the sessions whittled down to strictly the best of hits.

This excellent EP originally released in 2015 gets a timely repress to fend off the Discogs sharks...Clocking in at 35 minutes, these four tracks provide a value-for-money EP from one of the most interesting producers out there. Four tracks of dusty, gritty house music with 'Zitronen' being the banger here, and the go-to one for the dancefloor...whilst 'Smacks' and 'Bonobo' carry on where 'Mad Disrespect' (on Mister Sat Night) left off....lovely house music with that playful melody on 'Bonobo' shining through. Last up is "Dopes To Infinity (4DM Mix)" and the one that still gets plays from us a year later.....excellent stuff!

Like many of his contemporaries, US producer Huerco S usually deals in wavy, trembling house amalgams, but also often deals in all things ambient and beatless. This new LP on Anthony Naples' Proibito, however, is a marked step in a different direction from the artist, and it shows us that he's more talented at the genre than merely a B2 stuck on at the end of a techno deviation. For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have) is a stunning ambient album; each track across its duration is filled with life and purpose, a clear musical and expressive direction that many so-called ambient artists lack. It's likely to be remembered for a long time, and allow this artist to be seen as having a truly experimental mindset.

Anthony Naples cult label Proibito kicks off 2016 with two new twelves. First up we have a quick split between HJ and AN. HJ offers one beast of a freaky-deaky drum tool that recalls the halcyon days of Plastikman's 'Spastik' being played over anything and everything from 150bpm techno raves to sub-100bpm slo-mo cosmic shenanigans. Drop this baby over any of the above to devastating effect! Squelchy snares rolls and flabby wet toms rambunctiously going at it, no holds barred. On the flip, AN's "Pinuelas" is a suitably hazed, THC-laden jaunt into deep space abandon for Proibito. Utilizing a catchy Rhodes line we have pumping side chain compression working with the tapey drums to create a swelling, buoyant ball of dancefloor tension that should excite all the top jocks. Another doozy for Proibito and dancers everywhere! Recommended.
