Third Space was inspired by a digital painting of a house by Marilyne Blais. A printout of the untitled work was pinned to the wall in Casa de Haikustudio, becoming an unexpected influence on the record. The duo realized early on they had started to imagine the soundscape inside the dream-like dwelling. The depth of field is fuzzy, angles are confused, and the structural integrity is unclear. On Third Space, People Plus wander freely between real and psychedelic territories, dipping into trip-hop, downtempo, and jazz. They find their sonic context in a hybrid space - neither the bedroom nor the dance floor.

Hi. Welcome back. We’re very pleased to present a new record by Ian Wyatt, performing under the name Local Artist. He’s one of the co-founders of Mood Hut, and you may remember him from his music on the Proibito and Rhythm Section record labels. You may also have checked out his releases under the moniker Slow Riffs, including the Gong Bath 12” from 2015. This wonderful record can be played at any time of the day or night and is also a great thing to play in the home or in the club. Drums, bass, keyboards, as well as other sounds and outboard effects (including delay) are all present. The artwork was done by Logan Sturrock and Local Artist. Dancer / Dreamer will be available in vinyl and digital formats this summer. We hope you enjoy!

Having spent the last couple of years working on other projects, Mood Hut stalwarts Pender Street Steppers reunite for a welcome EP of loved-up goodness. They begin not with a chunk of saucer-eyed deep house, but rather the Balearic jazz-funk lusciousness of "Raining Again". The sunrise-friendly positivity continues with the ricocheting drum hits, fireside-warm bass and head-in-the-clouds synth melodies of "Mirror (Dub)", before the Canadian duo pays tribute to early Italian house on "Molto Bene". Turn to the flipside for the crunchy deep house dreaminess of "Blackboard" and the ultra-deep headiness of "No Need", in which the talented twosome makes great use of delay-laden drum machine hits and looped, dust-laden hip-hop vocal samples. All in all, this is arguably their strongest EP to date.
