Having debuted earlier in the year with the much-played Ruffian on Ancient Monarchy, deep house DJ-turned-bass music and techno producer Gramrcy pops up on Charles Drakeford's hyped FTD label with a quartet of thoroughly contemporary dancefloor workouts. He touches on a few different flavours across the four tracks, from the post dubstep-meets-bruk shuffle and dub stabs of "Space (Dub)", to the L.I.E.S-goes-dubstep fuzziness of "New Obedience". He wanders further into dystopian techno territory with the distorted electronics, wild synth lines and moody rhythms of "Chrome Tabs", while "18 Drums" subtly doffs a cap to afro-tinged UK funky. It's the sort of record that will do wonders for the producer's fledgling career.
