Recorded at Sondor Studios, Montevideo, the album is the natural development of the original Opa sound, fusing Afro-Uruguayan rhythms, jazz harmony and heavy funk attitude, under Hugo's unique musical vision.

In 1975, the prolific and multi-talented Brazilian comedians Chico Anysio and Arnaud Rodrigues recorded an album based on the protagonist of one of their most celebrated TV series. Sporting a dodgy moustache and an equally troubling haircut, Carioca conman Paulo Mauricio Azambuja (played by Anysio) would flog his own mother's leg if he could, and his ever-ridiculous scams are inevitably always destined to fail. This soundtrack/musical re-imagining of the series combines jazz-funk with samba soul and MPB, with the help of cult Brazilian trio Azymuth.

Baiano & Os Novos Caetanos is Anysio and Rodrigues’ satire on Brazil’s Tropicalia movement. Having a friendly crack at the likes of Caetano Veloso and psychedelic rockers Novos Baianos, the musical characters ‘Baiano’ and ‘Paulinho Boca de Profeta’ played by Anysio and Rodrigues respectively, are righteous tropicalistas, poetically denouncing the dictatorship, while simultaneously mocking those who took themselves too seriously. Azymuth’s free and funky psych sounds combine with accordion, harmonica, brass and plenty of rural Brazilian rhythms, with Orlandivo who co-wrote many of the songs, and renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Durval Ferreira also featuring.

Fleisch-MarschHans P. and Ernst Stroer are the Stroer Bros. Based close to Munich, Bavaria, they work as composers, arrangers, musicians, producers and authors, traveling between many different musical worlds. Hans plays bass, guitars and piano, Ernst plays all kinds of drums and percussion. The two of them descended from the wildly expanded jazz brew of the 70s. In early 1979 Hans went on a six week tour through eleven African countries as a bass player in Jazz guitarist Volker Kriegel's group Mild Maniac Orchestra. Inspired by his experiences on tour, Hans suggested to do a freestyle album together with Ernst. Avantgarde pianist Wolfgang Dauner's Jazz label Mood Records offered them one week of studio time in the well equipped rooms of an old sugar factory between Christmas and New Years Eve 1981.

Adryiano Richter's trademark brand of dusty, sample-based deep house with strong funk/soul leanings has landed him a great reputation and releases on the likes of Heist, Soul Notes, his own Cestraw and current it label Shall Not Fade. This is actually his third release for the label in less than a year which is particularly impressive, we must say. The Dream With EP is possibly the German producer's finest offering yet; although probably only a child when the emerging sounds of French Touch came up in the late '90s, he's managed to recapture the zeitgeist incredibly well 20 years later. The funked-up soul power of "Got U Lovin" or the neon-lit rapture of the title track with their clever loops and crunchy SP1200 style drums.

Hungarian producer Route 8 first joined Lobster Theremin in 2014 following a series of acclaimed singles for labels such as Nous, Bokhari and Farbwechsel. A couple more releases for imprint and distribution outfit followed, before he surprisingly fell off the radar. Come Home is his first EP for almost two years; predictably, it's really rather good. We're really rather enjoying the rush-inducing warmth and positivity of opener "Come Home", where chanted, delay-laden vocal samples and sultry Latin trumpet solos drift across a sumptuous deep house groove, and the electrofunk-sampling thrust of deep gospel house bumper "FunFun". That said, both "Turning Point" (a deep and spacey breakbeat house number) and the rolling, riff-heavy late night shuffler "From The Valley" are also superb.

Marti Caine's infamous Point Of View is a groovy blend of slow-mo funk, dark disco and precise pop. Originally released on BBC Records in 1981, it has attracted a considerable cult following this century. The odd charity shop score aside, it has been impossible to find a copy for less than eye-watering sums (often selling for over ￡200) and, as such, it's an honour to present the first officially licensed vinyl reissue of this sublime record. Featuring expert liner notes written by Bill Brewster - perhaps the record's most notable champion - this lovingly curated release is limited to just 500 copies. The outlandish artwork - presenting a striking, green-eyed Marti treating a tiger to a headlock - has been faithfully restored and is arguably worth the price of admission alone. With access to the original tape transfers, Simon Francis' sensitive mastering elevates the sound throughout and, as ever, it has been pressed at a reassuringly weighty 180g.

Invisible City Editions officially re-release the sublime extended 12” version of “Praise Jah” with soaring vocals and wild electronics. Oluko Imo was a Trinidadian born multi-instrumentalist, founder of the legendary spiritual afro jazz groups Mansa Musa and the Black Truth Rhythm Band. He moved to New York City in the 80s and divided his time between teaching music there and touring Africa with Fela Kuti as both his manager and part of the band. Praise Jah is Imo’s crowning achievement. An elevated electronic mantra that perfectly fuses synthy soca disco with his spiritual afro-Trinidadian leanings. It’s a timeless piece of music that sounds as visionary today as it did when it emerged from the aether back in 1979.

Over the past couple of years German producer Tim Bernhardt, aka Satin Jackets, has established himself as one of the biggest names on the nu-disco scene, clocking up more than 25 million streams of his debut 2016 album 'Panorama Pacifico' on Spotify alone. Earlier this year, Tim compiled 'Diamonds Are Forever', a 7 track mini-album of re-mixed and re-mastered tracks from the early days of his career. "I had been chatting with some fans on Facebook about the first Satin Jackets productions and we realised that there were quite a few tracks that, for various reasons, were no longer available anywhere" explains Tim.
