For proof, check the dreamy lo-fi wooziness of "Paradise of Crane", where deep space synthesizer chords seemingly float around a clicking deep house groove, the cinematic bliss of "Lazy Sunshine" - "Deep Burnt" for a new generation, perhaps - and the lilting, enveloping dancefloor melancholia of "Detached Observation". Also worth checking is Valentino Mora's fine remix of "Paradise of Crane", which recasts the track and a slowly shifting chunk of head-in-the-clouds deep house/dub techno fusion.

Church's latest release - a rather tasty, two-track ten-inch single - comes courtesy of South London sorts DJ Malcolm and Dabriel Garius. A-side "Lulo", a jazzy deep house cut smothered in expansive piano solos, dreamy synth chords and sampled female vocals, is particularly potent, with the duo expertly layering up the percussion to give the track a sun-kissed, carnival-friendly feel. Flipside "Guava" displays a similar jazz influence, with the duo trading electric piano and trumpet solos over elastic synth bass and swinging, semi-broken deep house grooves. It's what we imagine a contemporary collaboration between Phil Asher and 2000Black boys Dego and Kaidi Tatham would sound like, which is high praise indeed.

After D*** P*** became the biggest band in the universe, the house sound we all loved France for had nowhere left to go but deep underground, only now is it beginning to reemerge with the help of a new wave of young producers. First up we have Paris's Folamour, real name Bruno Boumendi. If you're hoping for a soulless rehash then you're looking in the wrong place, this ep has more in common with the dance floor jazz workings of Rythym International and Brownswood than it does with the filter house sounds of Roule. Church are on fire at the moment, with a FYI Chris ep and a Laurence Guy album on the way, so why not take time to worship at their altar before I think up any more crap religious puns...

Taking their inspiration from the late night grooves of the Detroit underground, this is music that will warm the most frigid of dancefloors and send them out into the breaking dawn light with a smile on their face and a groove in their heart. All four tracks on this ep, from the souldful hip hop break of 'A Tribute To Horace' (that could only be bettered with the inclusion of a couple of verses from Q tip) to the looped pianos of Nicholas's 'Alma' (that reminds us of I Cube's nineties house anthem 'Disco Cubizm') will work from dingy basement bar to main room, peak time.
