Jun Kamoda has been a solid contributor to Japan’s electronic music scene for quite some time. Producing under his Illreme moniker for over 15 years & also as member of Hip Hop trio Baleine 3000. He is also a cartoon illustrator for Japanese independent magazine ‘Usca’. Infectious licks and raw drums come together to form ‘Blind Disco’, an animated production that blends a cacophony of samples into a raucous party jam. ‘Ramen Funk’ is a moodier cut by comparison, featuring a medley of percussive elements, vibrant guitar melodies and a seedy bassline, until ‘Savanna On The Palm’ chops up and loops a wailing vocal sample before leading into echoing chords and a twisted groove in a mesmerising conclusion.

DJ/producer Nan Kole (aka Francesco Cucchi) is a natural-born musical activist. A long-time advocate of contemporary African music and trans-national cultural exchange. He brings more takes on the gqom sound here with the Malumz EP for Bristol's Black Acre. There's some booming, tunneling and thunderous rhythm action happening on the epic "Bayefal" while some deep acid antics on "Malumz" (Tribute To Gqom Oh!) keep up with a relentless boom: Plastikman goes to Afrika on this one! On the flip, the said track gets two awesome remixes: Citizen Boys rendition is very nefarious indeed with its razor sharp strings in minor acting as bassline over its jacking vocal loops. Then Formation Boyz step up with some impressive off kilter rhythm therapy.
