Back in 2014, Patrice Scott gathered together a quartet of tracks from friends in the house and techno community and whacked them out under the Genesis Tracks banner. This belated follow-up repeats the same recipe for success, once again showcasing four cuts from big-hitting artists. Scott steps up first with the swirling, dreamy, intergalactic deep house bliss of "Seasons Change", before boogie revivalist Reggie Dokes joins the dots between analogue deep house and synth-funk on the sublime "The Baptism". Flip for the metronomic, riff-heavy deep house pulse of "Gossamar" by Eric Cloutier, and a killer, up-tempo analogue deep house jam from the hugely talented Kai Alce.

Sistrum label head, and one of the more understated of the Detroit players, Patrice Scott returns to the controls for his next offering of sonic impressionism. "The Detroit Upright EP" features two choice cuts patented Deetroit electronic soul music. Patrice’s musical foundation was laid and developed in Detroit and the inspiration continues to this day. The playful interplay between keyboards, syncopated percussion and warm Rhodes instantly grabs the listener on title track; fizzing and shaking through its duration and would surely be a big play for one Mr Kyle Hall or Floating Points. "Who We Are" takes things a little harder but loses none of that rich presence and human touch; delicate melodies fluttering over languid keys while a typically Detroitan beat marches force. Pure class from Patrice Scott. Recommended.
