Since summer 2016, "Keep On" has been doing the rounds in the house music community, with support from some of the biggest names on the circuit playing the track on a week-by-week basis. Initially made off the cuff as a tribute to Chicago’s ghetto house sound and inspired by the DC10 terrace, the track went onto become something of a monster that the young Scottish producer never anticipated. Upfront high and energy drums combine with brash vocal samples to make the track a dancefloor weapon best deployed deep on the terrace! Over the last few years, Israeli producer Jean-Claude Gavri has reworked all manner of vintage dancefloor treats, often delivering brilliantly percussive or subtly tooled-up reinterpretations. This time round, he's working his magic on David Bowie's 1983 classic "Let's Dance". Interestingly, it sounds like Gavri had access to the master tapes during the remixing process, because the A-side remix is a wonderfully dubbed-out, synth-laden interpretation that sounds like a cross between the work of The Reflex and the Idjut Boys. The flipside Dub Edit is pretty tasty, too, and naturally concentrates more on both the rolling percussion and killer synth bassline.

With a new big budget Hollywood movie based on classic Manga series Ghost in the Shell now opening across Europe, now seems as good a time as any to revisit the soundtrack to the 1995 movie of the same name. Composed and largely performed by acclaimed Japanese composer Kenji Kawaii, the film's music was arguably more inspired than the movie itself. Utilizing a blend of electronic hardware, traditional Japanese percussion instruments and snatches of exotic vocals, Kawaii's ambient compositions are variously beautiful, beguiling and uncomfortably moody. There are some more cinematic moments, too, but even these rely on atmospheric electronics as much as choral motifs.

On side A we have former Foxy frontman Ishmael 'Ish' Ledesma with his sublime esoteric Disco cut from 1979 called 'Don't stop', a deep, late night diamond of a track that will appeal to the more left-field Disco lovers out there. 'Don't stop' has long been a favourite with the diggers with it's sweet vocals, synth heavy production and overall cosmic vibe. A beauty of a track indeed and one of TK's lesser known cuts. Side B sees fusion guitarist John Tropea's 1979 cosmic classic 'Living in the jungle', a long time spin of DJ's like Daniele Baldelli and DJ Harvey. Infusing Tropea's rock sensibilities with the throb of the Disco dance-floor the track is a low slung, midtempo groover that touches all the right spots. Overall, this essential double-header is a must have for all Disco heads and left-field DJ fiends.
