Cris Kuhlen is more commonly known as a graphic designer, whose art in the last ten years has graced the covers of albums by Sabrine Star, Anouk and even Aretha Franklin. Here he appears as a producer himself under the name Dazion and delivers some some Afro influenced grooves reminiscnet of Fela Kuti on A side cut "Be A Man" while the afro vocals continue on B side offering "Dancing In The future" but musically it is '80s style Balearica reminiscent of Lauer or Fabrizio Mammarella. "Rigola" is a lo-slung synhthpop ditty that sounds like one of Chris Carter's more upbeat solo offerings heard on albums like Mondo Beat back in the day. Following up promising works in the studio as Tears & Marble previously, Kuhlen is one to watch.

Family Groove Records have a history of unearthing previously unreleased material from the '70s and '80s. Their latest impressive find is shrouded in mystery. According to their sales notes, the five tracks showcased here come from a 1981 recording session by the previously unheralded Hall & Floyd, hidden away since on dusty demo tapes. There's much to enjoy, not least the Earth, Wind & Fire style goodness of "Sunrise" - all mazy Moog solos, sweet vocals and sumptuous roller-disco grooves - the punchy disco-funk of opener "Let Us Take You There", and the loved-up, pitched-down sugariness of "You Make Living Wonderful". They've only pressed up 300 copies, so you'll need to be quick to secure one.

On the flip ‘Rivers of Blood’ starts with a deep bassline and keeps on cranking up and piling on the pressure, until the synths wash in after four minutes and the track becomes a tempestuous torrent of Detroitian hi-tech jazz.

London's Tessela is back on his very own Poly Kicks for the label's sixth outing. For a swift bit of context, the imprint has been among our favourites over the last year, primarily for its ability to amalgamate heartfelt British techno together with less rigid, more deconstructed experimental sonic sketches in a way that doesn't feel forced. This time, however, the producer heads straight to the dance floor with the uncompromising pounce of "Sorbet", a driving UK techno slammer with a broken beat and some cavernous electronic trickery. The B-side, "Driving", is our favourite, however, due to the track's suave injection of rhythmic half-breaks, minimal melodic rift, and relentless crescendo of energy. This is techno release no.1 for us, this week; don't miss it, there's only limited quantities.

Italian singer and songwriter Giampiero Scalamonga had a successful run as a disco hitmaker through the 70s, and his crowning glory was surely the Body To Body LP released in 1979. Now Best Records have turned back the clock to disco's golden hour to reissue the Gepy & Gepy classic on pristine wax. While the A-side title track is a timeless gem on its own, it's the impassioned club burner "African Love Song" that will have the diggers rejoicing.
