For our 10th offering one of our youngsters is in charge. Mr. Neil Flynn is back with his very unique and mystical, celtic influenced style. Following up on his first EP “Louise” and the brilliant “Island People”, Neil definitely refined his trademark style and invited the Irish Folk musician Katie Kim for a deep and atmospheric vocal appearance on the main track “J.E.N.” - probably his finest work to date. On the flip side our man of the moment Trikk adding his magic with slowing “J.E.N.” down to 114BPM and turning it into a percussion driven club banger with a perfectly embeded vocal. Last but not least we have “Shadows” a quirky whirlwind of a track that will sure make a buzz on the dancefloor with it’s whiny synths, noisy sequences and constant driving bassline. This excellent EP originally released in 2015 gets a timely repress to fend off the Discogs sharks...Clocking in at 35 minutes, these four tracks provide a value-for-money EP from one of the most interesting producers out there. Four tracks of dusty, gritty house music with 'Zitronen' being the banger here, and the go-to one for the dancefloor...whilst 'Smacks' and 'Bonobo' carry on where 'Mad Disrespect' (on Mister Sat Night) left off....lovely house music with that playful melody on 'Bonobo' shining through. Last up is "Dopes To Infinity (4DM Mix)" and the one that still gets plays from us a year later.....excellent stuff!

Frankfurt based producer, DJ and music lover Martin Heimann presents his debut single “Salto” on Carry On 008. Remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. Enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of “Salto” is a thriving piece of octave liberation. Consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while FM pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. The release is ennobled by two proper remixes from Moon B (Peoples Potential Unlimited) and Jex Opolis (Good Timin’). While Moon B keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle Italo dance floor energy, the B-Side is Jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. On top Mr. Opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

Increasingly known for his productions as much as his storied DJ sets, Eric Cloutier approaches the studio with the same kind of precision that marks out his club and festival appearances. On this first release on Palinoia he exercises a keen sense of control over playful elements, not least on lead track "Heuristic". The nagging lead synth may hop around the mix, but it stays locked on to a thoroughly focused undercarriage of drums and low end that suits the professional techno set. "Ipseity" is lighter in its demeanour thanks to some calming pad tones, but the strong structure of the track remains. The release rounds up with the slower thump of "Opprobrium", surmising Cloutier's attitude to the warm-up part of a serious, long-lasting DJ set.

World Building is the new label from Beautiful Swimmer Ari Goldman and it gets off to a veritable flyer with The Fatal Flaw In Disco from the master Mark Seven. Proprietor of Parkway and Parkwest Records, Seven is among the most highly respected of record dealers and DJs and a fine choice to kick off World Building. We've been massive fans of the Parkway tackle here at Juno HQ and hopefully this banging 12" will retrospectively see collectors and selectors dig back through the label. Some five tracks deep, The Fatal Flaw In Disco sees the Stockholm-based Seven continue to explore his love of classic US deep house with the sax-addled pump of "The Fatal Flaw In Disco (U-4-Ria)" a considered highlight. If you've seen the Swimmers at any festival jam this summer you should be familiar with the cuts on this 12" and expect to hear them in the dance a lot more as the year goes on. Big record.

Danny's got to be one of the hardest working men behind the decks right now with an international rep and DJ schedule truly befitting of his time spent making us dance over the last 45 (!) years. It makes perfect sense then, that one of the most seminal Disco labels of all time would call upon Mr. K's sharp editing skills when reappraising some of the jams from their extensive catalogue. TK Disco is the label in question here and they've let Danny loose on a pair of dance-floor burners that all Disco heads will be familiar with.

Raam is back with a solid 4 tracker. The EP starts with Ment which is a raw and jacking deep house track. A big rolling bassline, drum machine grooves and melancholy pads create that special house feeling. Lipslide is a sublime and discoish house track with dubby chords and bubbly synths that slowly but surely unfolds into a serious groove that really work the floor. On the flip Ment get some remix treatment from Samo DJ (LIES, TTT, Born Free etc) and Alexi3d. They transform the original in to gritty and percussive techno trip. The EP ends with Ask which is a slow house-not-house track.
