Daniele Baldelli producer now has nothing to envy about Daniele Baldelli the DJ. This is demonstrated by the authoritativeness of the first two 12”s of six in the series "Cosmic Temple” on the Mondo Groove label. What first strikes the eye are the covers, with fluorescent colors, which will form a patchwork created by Aldo Drudi (the designer of Valentino Rossi), a large mosaic that interprets garish aesthetics/logoa Cosmic. But immediately after the music takes the stage: 3 tracks in "Chapter 1" and 3 tracks in "Chapter 2", are able to tell the true mood of the imaginary Baldelli’s sound and take them to a land of wonders.
Chapter 2: the phrasing of Zircaloy, and still that yin and yang that composed Krebs Cycle, with Burattini on synth, a race horse deep disco at 120 bpm that goes into stratospheres, and Afelio, a lethargic space ballet at 90 bpm.

It's a groove so thick even Dr Livingstone would have trouble hacking through it, an immersive ride though to be sure, and one which will make infinitely more sense at 4am Sunday morning than it does at midday on a Tuesday...

Ahead of the release of his much anticipated debut album on ESP Institute, Moscoman delivers a top-notch teaser of what we can expect. Perhaps riffing off the Edwin Birdsong track that Daft Punk famously sampled, "Mexican Cola Bottle Baby" is undeniably atmospheric, with starry, whistling synth lines tumbling down over a dense, African-influenced, live-sounding tribal drum groove. Arguably even better are the accompanying Peaking Lights remixes. While the hazy, tactile instrumental is quietly impressive, we're much preferring the original remix, where trippy female vocals combine impressively with acid-influenced bass, undulating electronics, dreamy melodies and copious amounts of dub delay.

Vactrol Park, the collaborative endeavor between Kyle Martin (Land of Light) and Guido Zen (Brain Machine), returns to the ESP Institute with 'II', rounding out the second half of their EP series. For this installment, a sojourn was made to Stockholm to record at the computer music mecca, EMS (Elektronmusikstudion), where the artists had the opportunity to experiment extensively with the legendary Buchla 200 Modular and Serge Modular, two of the rarest modular synthesizers in existence. While both instruments originate from California (Buchla in Berkeley as a commission from pioneer Morton Subotnik, and Serge at the California Institute of the Arts), the music Vactrol Park draws from these machines is far from warm and sunny. Akin to their predecessors on the 2015 debut 'I', these works materialise a level of taste and measure of craft that’s unattainable by most, each retaining an individual cinematic approach yet working collectively toward one consummate goal - paralysis.

In typical Music From Memory fashion, their latest archival release shines a light on one of the UK's lesser-known bands of the early 1980s. The System released a lone single in 1981, followed by a now incredibly rare debut album, Logic, in 1983. Three of the cuts here are taken from that set, including the dreamy, downbeat Balearic-pop opener "Almost Grown" - a wonderfully evocative six minutes, all told - and the far-sighted, spacey, proto-techno shuffler "Vampirella". This EP also includes one previously unreleased track, "Find It In Your Eyes", which was rescued from long-forgotten master tapes during the licensing process.
