‘Multiverse’ is a word used to describe an infinite group of disparate universes including the ones currently inhabited by humans. A myriad of realms that sit side by side, undetected by our senses, surround us at any given moment. The multiverse theory was first confirmed by tracking leakage of electromagnetic waves filtering from one dimension into the next. When these waves were transposed to fit into frequencies audible by the human ear, the recordings were studied by a team of scientists, who found that they contained rhythmic elements that resembled a speech pattern of an alien language. After years of research and manipulation the audio was found to be a looping recording of an alien voice speaking the words: ‘IDWT005; coming soon to a universe near you.’

It takes a very special record to be christened a 'classic', 'timeless', 'legendary'. Heatwave's 1976 smash 'Boogie Nights' is one such special record, it undoubtedly deserves all the cache it has received over the decades since it's original release. Written by the late Rod Temperton (who went on to work with Michael Jackson, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones and many others) this proto-Disco anthem still influences today and is renowned as an all-time classic dance record. 'Boogie Nights' was a hit in the USA, peaking at #2 in the charts in early 1977. Not bad for a group of Europeans with no connection to the hustle and bustle of NYC, or the grit and glamour of Detroit, Michigan with Temperton even calling Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire 'home'!

Classic Brazilian album from master drummer, Ronald Mesquita, originally released in 1972. Featuring songs by Jorge Ben, Antonio Carlos-Jobim, Gilberto Gil, Edu Lobo and others. Mesquita is probably most well-known for playing with Luis Carlos Vinhas and his 'Bossa Tres' outfit, along with his own group, 'Ronie E A Central Do Brasil', that he formed after his return from the US in the early 1970s. He also played on several songs on Tenorio Jr.'s 'Embalo' album that Mr Bongo recently reissued. The killer track 'Balanca Pema' was very big in the Jazz Dance scene in the 90s and also featured on the Mojo compilation 'Dancefloor Jazz Volume Four'. Madlib sampled 'Balanca Pema' on his Medicine Show Number 2 'Flight to Brazil'.

トロピカリア・ムーブメントの一端を担ったブラジルの奇才Tom Zeが'76年に残した歴史的名作と言いたい6thアルバム「(邦題)サンバ学習」が<Mr. Bongo>からLPリイシュー！！あのDavid Byrneがコンピを手掛けるまで虜にされたということからもわかる通りにすべての音楽好きにオススメ！！

Incredibly unique concept album from the one and only, Tom Ze´. As featured in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Brazilian Albums of all-time list (2007). One of Ze's finest albums in our opinion, originally released by Continental. Brazil in 1976 - a tough one to find at a good price in its original form now. 'Estudando do Samba' (or 'Studying The Samba') is a post-Tropicalia studio experimentation laiden with layers of hypnotic percussion, effects & samples that deconstructs the 'samba' form. Recorded during what was arguably his most creative period. David Byrne found the record in Rio in the late 90's and included several songs on his Tom Ze collection for Luaka Bop a few years later. At that time Tom was not recording or touring much; playing low-key shows in Sao Paulo and contemplating a move back to Irara´ to work at a service station owned by one of his cousins. Byrne's project helped to reignite his career and he hasn't looked back since.

It was Memorial Day Weekend 2016, and the sun shined bright over the Detroit River. Pontchartrain stepped up to the decks at the Red Bull stage at Movement Electronic Music Festival donning his infamous "Detroit vs. Itself" t-shirt. His first song through the Rane rotary mixer was a dubplate made specifically for his set: “Afterlife”. It’s a brilliantly executed balearic daytime disco rework that warrants the praise of summer anthem that it’s earning. On the flip is “Pool”, an equally sunny slomo beatdown rework from Blair French. It's a delightful blend of cerebral and soulful, and is finally getting a release after being originally championed by Peter Croce on his Le Mellotron Paris set back in early 2018.

It comes from a relative newcomer in Bixi, the new alias for Basel, Switzerland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Lokke aka Modern Trash Quartett. Originally released in 1993 by Hani AlBader on his first label Super Doppler Communications. It was primitively programed on 8track sequencer then recorded on a 4 track tape machine in his spare bedroom studio in Denver, Colorado. Only 300 hundred copies were pressed initially. One of them was dj Dubfire whom at the time was starting as Deep Dish. One morning in spring of 93’ Hani received a phone call from Ali Shirazinia aka Dubfire who was full of compliments & requested similar tracks for his label.26 years later Hani’s name became internationally known & till this day continues to produce & remix under many aliases while running his own label Soterios Records.

The EP opens up with the gentle yet thudding bass of Her Moon. The track is ten minutes of pure euphoria. Mesmerising cosmic synths travel towards the first breakdown where the track enters a darker phase before they weave their way back in as a 90s inspired piano topline joins proceedings. It’s All Behind takes the EP on a deeper trip with an emotive, soulful, vocal and shimmering melodies. Closing the EP, Nowhere Beach deploys a rapid beat with industrial hints and a rolling bassline, whilst keeping the cosmic feel of its predecessors. A warm synthline uplifts in the breakdown.
