The A-side "Chakattic Mix" is particularly wonderful, layering Khan's ultra-positive, life-affirming vocal above the crew's trademark bruk-up beats, jazzy bass and sensational jazz-funk synths (provided, no doubt, by original crew-member Kaidi Tathtam). Over on side B, they up the spine-tingling "end of night" factor via a version containing just music and vocals, before once more proving their immense drum programming skills via a delay-laden "Bonus Beats" DJ tool. In a word: brilliant.

Limited 100 vinyl pressure on this one from an undisclosed European producer who has been responsible for more than a few choice cuts over his 25 years of releasing records. Burning Up lights the dance floor by squeezing every last drop of energy out of just a few key elements, a modulating pulsing cross-rhythm bass snakes around driving disco beats with choice vocal samples adding the final bit of ear candy. Minimal, a bit twisted, but hooky as hell. On the flip we have Becoming Cyclonic, a far deeper excursion where 808 toms dance around a repeating fretless bass melody. Even if Russian producer Gradient Logic is found here turning out the business on Serbian label Disco Fruit, the sound on the Far Away EP comes on like a snappy fusion of Garage-ready New York proto house and laid back West Coast boogie of the highest order. It's the third vinyl release for Tonbe's label, and once more marks the serious clout behind the Eastern European operation and its closest artists. Just try grooving to the slick bass pops on "Feel Me" without being transported to an early 80s dancefloor. There's a more organic funk to lock into on "I Want You Slide", but as ever it's hard to tell where the sampling ends and the musicianship begins on this utterly natural sounding EP.

The only living proof we have gathered thus far is that Dubrazil is actually the legendary Chicagoan Jordan Fields; his contribution "Sunshine In My Life" features neon lit synths guiding dusty vintage drums. Also, the sunny and emotive groove of Pascal Cordoba's "Comblnaca" was originally released in 2007: but this is a vinyl debut. Other than that, Bonjour's deep and sexy "Fondant" is a late night basement jam made for some serious hands in the air moments; those keys! The smooth and spiritual Afro vibe of Blackdub's "Melodies of Dub" calls to mind masters like Joe Claussell or Ron Trent.

The Band: A french trio called France, using drums, bass and amplified hurdy-gurdy. They perform only live, in the middle of the audience - turned in to face each other - full on smoke machines and strobes. And they play only one ’song’ for the duration of their hour-long set. And it’s the most transfixing live experience of intense physical and mental focus. The distorted hurdy gurdy plugs France’s sound into the country’s history of folk music and popular festivities, of communal trance and immersive pleasure. The rhythmic basis is pretty much the same throughout the whole live. One doesn’t need to actually be tripping balls for the auditory illusions to start coming thick and fast. Those who’ve stayed for the whole duration of their performances know they’ve shared something. However disparate the phantom forms each might have discerned in the midst of the howls and groans.
