Red Axes are very excited to present the first part of their new project called: "Trips", a multi media venture combining music, film and travelling across the globe in pursuit of extra ordinary collaborations. Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik are seeking to discover new grounds and sounds, and to record local musicians, indigenous instruments and present workshops for youth music schools. In March of 2017, the Israeli duo touched down in Africa for the first time, and set up camp in both Ethiopia and Ivory Coast, yielding In Africa, a triple header EP which features three slices of contemporary body music, with both East and West African musical motifs. The project will always present a musical release, on vinyl and digital, that was created on the trip, accompanied with a documentary, showing the whole journey.

Matthew Halsall's Gondwana label is seeing a busy August what with the imprint flooding our jazz charts with reissues and, of course, new releases such as this wonderful collaborative effort from The Gondwana Orchestra and Dwight Trible. Trible's voice is like silk, running up and down the delicate waves of melodies from the collective, with "Colors" and "The Creator Has A Master Plan" both capable of making the toughest of audiences feel utterly uplifted. On the flip, "Love Is Everywhere" shines bright amid a flurry of flutes and intricate drum percussions, while "You've Got To Have Freedom" rides off a much smoother, deeper sort of vibe that's got a little funk at its core. Wicked.

Of course, his take on electro is far from purist. "Blue Bullet", the title track from the veteran DJ/producer's second Byrd Out 12", features spacey, ricocheting machine drums and deep space electronics, but is powered by a typically fuzzy, restless dub disco bassline. Weatherall's love of dub soundystem culture comes to the fore on flipside "Making Friends With The Invader", where discordant, psychedelic influenced guitars rise above delay-laden drum machine hits and a suitably heavyweight bassline.

New single by legendary Brazilian singer Di Melo, 40 years after his classic self-titled samba-soul LP (1975). Performed and produced by French brilliant combo Cotonete, this single and collaboration will be followed by a full album early 2019. Florian Pelissier speaks about the project: "... I'm a huge fan of Di Melo and had already tried to contact him for Cotonete six years ago . . . He had 400 original songs never recorded, a gold mine. On the same night, we started working the arrangements for two days . . . Immediately after, we recorded in the magical Epsilon B studio..."

Description:

It's been a good 18 months since we last heard from Pampa offshoot Hart & Tief. Like its' predecessors, the label's third 12" is a double A-side affair showcasing the work of two experienced producers. Stimming handles side A, serving up a rich slice of hypnotic but driving tech-house built around rolling beats, trippy effects and restless riffs. Over on the reverse, Dave DK opts for a more stripped-back, bass-heavy feel on "Saida 222", where nagging, metallic stabs and fluttering chords loop above a dark and foreboding rhythm track. Both tracks sound like tried-and-tested late night workouts, though it's Dave DK's contribution that's our pick of the pair.

To kick things off, Dunn makes merry with a lesser-known orchestral disco-funk slammer, before brilliantly chopping, looping and rearranging a rubbery disco-boogie cut rich in bold synth bass, hazy "keep on dancing" chorus vocals and jangling piano riffs. Over on side B, Dunn turns his attention to an epic chunk of seductive disco, adding spacey delays and emphasizing the crunchy Clavinet lines to guarantee serious peak-time pleasure.
