With an arsenal of stellar music releases already under his belt, Ponty Mython serves up the delicious “Pink Tango” EP for Futureboogie. Having carved out a reputation for some of the finest cosmic house productions on labels like Omena, Dirt Crew and Quintessentials, the Lithuanian based producer delivers three new cuts on this release, which comes ably backed by a remix from Italian producer Fabrizio Mammarella. On the title track, Alex Pletnev (Ponty Mython), goes for breezy synths and wandering melodies over a chugging mechanical beat and an FM style bassline, whilst Fabrizio Mammarella (Bear Funk/Les Disques De La Mort) toughens things up slightly on his remix, plunging into a darker sound aesthetic for a great reinterpretation of the original.

NYC-based Bristol exile Milo Johnson AKA DJ Nature has long enjoyed a good relationship with Futureboogie Recordings, having first provided remix services for the West Country label back in 2013. This, though, is still his first EP for Dave Harvey's imprint. His loose, groovy and jazz-flecked style of deep house naturally comes to the fore on warm and melodious opener "Born Lifted", while the slightly more driving, sample-heavy "My Life" recalls his early '90s work as Nature Boy. "What Isn't" is a dusty deep house producer's take on electro-tinged instrumental hip-hop (reflective of his '80s work as part of Massive Attack's Wild Bunch collective) while "Loving You More" cannily joins the dots between lo-fi deep house, Balearic dreaminess and classic jazz-funk.

Luke Solomon and Jonny Rock have been friends, and occasional collaborators, since the late '90s. Here they join forces once more - for the first time in a while, it should be noted - on Dave Harvey's Futureboogie imprint. "Luca Frangipan" is a percussive, late night disco treat, with body-popping cowbell lines and nagging guitar lines riding a brilliant, rising and falling bassline. It's accompanied by a more spaced-out Dub, which intriguingly boasts all new electronics and an Italo-style rework of the bassline. Flip for three versions of "Groovin' To LA"; the bouncy disco original, a surprisingly soulful Dub mix, and Jayda G and Fett Burger's spacey, extra-percussive, tropical dub disco shuffler.

Mark E has spent the last few years re-tracing his loopy edit roots with the E Versions project, while exploring Balearic pastures with brother-in-law Nat Woodcock as Project E. Those who've always enjoyed his more peak-time productions will love this new two-tracker for Futureboogie, as it sees him applying his love of loop jams to suit darker, sweatier dancefloors. "Basement Trax 1" sets the tone, looping vintage, Twilo-era organ motifs over a tactile but chugging, nine-minute groove. "Basement Trax 2" is a little more musically expansive, with dreamy chords and similarly ear-catching organ motifs slowly building over a punchy house rhythm and undulating synth bassline.
