When it comes to house and techno reissues, few labels have quite as strong a reputation as Mint Condition. Since launching last year, they've delivered must-have material from Pepe Bradock, Paul Hester, Robert Owens and Circulation, amongst others. Here they turn their attention to the back catalogue of house-era Matthew Herbert, delivering a new pressing of 1996's Classic Herbert. All three tracks are amongst the producer's strongest dancefloor workouts. Check, for example, the bumpin', proto-boompty drums, mind-altering sub-bass and killer vocal samples of "Got To Be Movin", or the whistling melody lines, Detroit techno influences and fluid riffs of the deliciously positive "Fat King Fire". Arguably best of all, though, is the jazzier "Housewife", which feels like a template for so much of his later deep house material.

Guy 'Plez' Pleasant dropped this monstrous slab of proto-tribal Techno on his own Plezure label way back in '88. The rest, as they say, is history. A stone cold NYC club bomb was dropped. Literally. The fact that this record is still played, still talked about, still sought after really says something about it's heady mix of heads down dark corner tribalism, it's screeching, soaring synth lines and it's sheer balls out attitude. This one goes off. A cursory glance shows that Plez only did a handful of records, with "Can't stop" definitely being the biggest and most well known and loved (honorary tip of the cap to 'Thing for you' here too). The 'Acid rainforest' mix featured on this 12" is a dangerous weapon in any DJ's bag, submerging the dance-floor into an otherworldly jungle planet. Heavy, heavy stuff.

Iz & Diz's "Mouth" - Originally released on the seminal Chicago/London label Classic recordings way back in 2002 is a bonafide benchmark of modern House music, on it's release the records original flavour was a welcome breath of fresh air (pun intended!). By signing up the French genius Pepe Bradock on remix duties Classic had on their hands a future anthem. Bradock's singular, fresh production style pushed the track into the imaginations of numerous DJ's and ensured the track would find it's place in the bags and mixes of heads for years to come. Still sounding totally alien today with it's mix of human sounds twisted through digital treatments, Mint Condition are extremely proud to unleash these cult remixes backed with the unheard, unreleased versions and takes from the Pepe Bradock remix sessions for their debut release.
