As befitting the celebration of a landmark year in the life of Gerd Janson's widely adored imprint, Janson has invited one of house music's original and greatest proponents of the Mastermix, NYC's Tony Humphries, to curate and mix the CD and digital editions of the compilation, accompanied by an unmixed double-LP which features a handful of the compilation's rare and exclusive cuts. The choice of Tony Humphries to mix the compilation is a significant one. Having received his break in the early '80s as an understudy for the legendary Shep Pettibone's Kiss FM show, Humphries went on to become one of the defining DJs of house music's formative years with his residency at New Jersey's Club Zanzibar and London's Ministry of Sound.

Fort Romeau’s second outing for Running Back is another exercise in dance floor synthesis. Starting where its predecessor “Saku” left us with the green shimmer of a Fairlight, “Emulators” - you might have guessed it - greets us with the grey realism of an E-MU II. Purchased first by none other than Stevie Wonder, immortalised in Ferris Bueller’s ode to absenteeism and the original loon sampler, there is nothing this machine cannot do for you - the same goes for Fort Romeau. His disco-informed, trance-induced tracks that usually end on a high note, are elevated by ambient soundscapes that end with a bang and sugarcoat your warm-up slots, while bird-heavy bonus beats that stand up on their own or help you out in the mix. Nice like a stick of liquo-rice.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the Kredits label throws its spangly hat into the disco ring with some self-proclaimed "obscure edits", and it's safe to say that whoever is behind the venture has come up trumps. Billy Woost may not have released much music back in his heyday around 1977, but the one album he did put together was enough to secure a place in the crosshairs of the consummate Italian groove archivists, Best Italy. Picking up the finest jams from Woost's back catalogue, we're presented with a three tracker dripping with classic disco charm. "Body, Body Love" comes in a previously unreleased disco form that cruises at an easy pace but packs plenty of punch, while "Please Touch Me" edges the intensity up with a steamy set of strings, brass and vocals. "Sleep" meanwhile taps into a Blockheads kind of funk, bright and bouncy and just a little left of centre, which of course makes it all the more special.

Since then she's spent time crafting numerous remixes on labels like Watergate and prepping this, a three-track effort on a label that hasn't seen a release since 2010's 'Cassy 003'. Cassy created the self-titled imprint in 2006 with no plan or set schedule. The EP features tracks entitled 'One', 'Two' and a rework of 'One'. All are sleek, hypnotic cuts aimed at the dancefloor.
