All of the above were the weapons of choice for the disc jockey's of yesteryear, utilising these tools helped various luminaries pave the way for where we are today on the modern dance-floor. Since launching at the tail end of 2015, Tokyo's Edit & Dub Recordings has released a string of rare previously unheard remixes and re-edits from disco titans Tee Scott and Larry Levan. This time round, they've unearthed what they claim to be a couple of ludicrously rare, previously promo-only disco mixes of Sylvester cuts that first appeared in their native Japan in 1978. On the A-side, you'll find a brilliantly upbeat, expertly extended version of "Over & Over" that flips between periods of screaming release and low-slung, groove-based thrills. Flip for the horn-heavy thrills of "Grateful", where Sylvester's impassioned pleas ride a typically high-octane disco rhythm. It's the kind of driving workout that's guaranteed to get dancers sweating out on the floor.

Technical house goodness is order of the day as "Why Can't We Both Be Right" deploys a mechanical beat to LFO filtered vocal hooks and pumping pad sweeps. "Rejoice" unloads some feel good disco loops onto an Ableton pad set, looping up the juicy bits and lashing digital fx and synth splurges onto the stems. "Morning In A Boeing 747" is a clever title for a tune that sounds like your soaring through the clouds while the mid morning sun pokes his head through - serene and radiant but with an unhurried calm throughout. Lovely stuff. "Suff Mode" chills things out even more, sounding like a lost Moodymann number with its clever sampling and eyes down nature. A backroom burner of the highest quality - sultry and sexy as hell.

In terms of "legendary" House records, it doesn't get any better than LNR's "Can't stop the house". Originally released in the golden year of 1987 the Chicago duo of Larry Thompson and Rick Lenoir (with a helpful production assist from the mighty Adonis and a dope remix from Steve "Silk" Hurley) crafted this anthemic slab of chunky, funked out jacking House. "Can't stop the house" is a straightforward, stripped back club track, no special FX - just straight up party music for sweaty dancefloors. This official 2016 reissue contains 4 mixes of this stone cold classic - The vocal mix, basement mix, house of trix mix and the rapid edit, all culled from the numerous pressings that came out in 1987 - 1989. In a sense, this is "the complete" collection of this cornerstone of Chicago House.
