The sixth release of Amsterdam record label Safe Trip brings together a few dozen ambient tracks from Japanese twin brothers Satoshi & Makoto from Kawasaki. The whole album's beats, melodies and musical phrases come from the Casio CZ-5000: which gives the record its name. Label chief Young Marco discovered their music via YouTube videos, which the two musicians had recorded in order to illustrate the possibilities of the aforementioned instrument and most of the material was said to be influenced by acts like The Orb and Yellow Magic Orchestra. According to the label, it is largely of an ambient nature, positive mood and possibly alien origin.

Last spotted on a Dopeness Galore 12" alongside regular sparrer Oscar Key Sung, this fresh 5 track 12" sees the Foxmaster taking subtle cues from Cajmere, Pal Joey and some lesser known Australian house producers from the '90s. There is a DIY, lo-fi sheen apparent throughout but it's complemented by a refreshing sense of humour in some of the little production touches. See the 'horny-Australiana disco' of "Soy Boy" for an example of this. A great 12"!

Having thus far released EPs for Aficionado and Music For Dreams, A Vision Of Panorama return to their regular haunt Mellophonia to expand on the promise of their shorter works to go deep into a Balearic dream on Aquafusion. It's a perfect meditation on serene funk from start to finish, spanning eight tracks of tender musicianship that sit very easy on the ears. The likes of "Surf Blue" almost do away with drums entirely in a quest for calm, while "Barbados" and others offer up a more sprightly vision of 80s-flavoured groove, but throughout the mysterious hands behind the record maintain a smooth and steady mood that binds the album together.

Powerdance is a collective of like minded dance music enthusiasts that joined forces as a sonic dance floor experiment. Tired of identikit dancefloor tracks and uninspired edits, the crew hit the studio in search of something new and original, a retro-influenced bit of forward facing disco which should bring a smile back to mirrorballs everywhere. The journey starts with the self titled "Power Dance", a constantly evolving cut which sees a driving disco rhythm section topped by a revolving cast of wah guitar, dubby trumpet, cooing male vocals and sassy female chat. Druggy fx and 80s informed production techniques call to mind everything dope from the Wag Club to Studio 54 - from Koala Bears to Will Powers, without ever falling victim of pastiche. With the B-side playing host to a percussion heavy 'Beats' mix I'd say there's plenty of two copy potential here - make no mistake, it's nu disco of the DFA vintage!

Coming through utterly correct, as per usual, Francis Inferno Orchestra aka Bjorn This Way spearheads the second release of the Superconscious Records imprint. This is some straight up edit goodness, and the very best of its kind. Think of it in terms of being the Rolls Royce of current nu-disco. But the thing is, this gear goes way beyond disco and lands into some pretty surprising, gloriously obscure territories. "Cave Clan" for instance, is more of an electro-meets-EDM banger than anything disco related, and if we really have to go into specifics on this tight little banger, it reminds us of the Golden Teacher output from the Optimo Camp - a stone-cold killer. The B-side ain't too shabby either, where a looming, heavy bassline catapults us into a dark and mysterious groove with a devilish percussion. An absolute tip - warmly recommended!
