Few words are needed to describe the debut of the vinyl with A1 track which is a rarely powerful combination of 2.0 Dance Music and 80's vibes, a proper slap in the face to kick it off! Our unknown DJ then shifts to a more sensual mode with A2, where funky guitar shades and smooth chords blended with the vocals that drag us on a more intimate level of listening to keep on traveling on a lower tone. B side starts with a track guided by weaving Jazzy rhythmics dialoguing hectically with Samba and some jungle environmental recordings, creating a super personal interpretation of Brazilian Jazzy House, while to end up the 4th trip on Wax Planet, B2 blesses us with some more classic vibes with a sharp string's melody and a rich bassline guided silently by a Rhodes piano and some pungent and melancholic female vocals, to end it up in style.

Having initially snuck his jams out in the early 90s as Memphis, Paul Williams has been around longer than most and his excursions into ambient music are definitely worthy of attention. As well as a 12" on Mirror Zone, this release marks 24 years since we last heard from Memphis and it's startling how relevant the sound is now. It's dated for sure, but only in the same way as much of the music you'll hear our favourite deep digging DJs reach for. There's a heady, trancey pulse to these productions, but without any naff strings or cheesy leads - this is proper trip-out box jam business from an unsung champion.

Roberto Lodola has a rich legacy in Italian music, not least as a DJ and at the helm of early 90s outfit Rhythm Factory. Recognising the cult status of his first single, the 1986 12" Marimba Do Mar, Best Records have done the right thing in remastering this sun soaked classic with both original mixes and two previously unheard studio outtakes. The "Fusion Version" of the title track is a rich, sensual jam festooned with cascading pianos and tumbling percussion, while the "Vocal Version" brings a beautiful female vocal front and centre in the mix. "Feeling Of The Sun" is a delightfully spaced out lo-fi take on the original, and then "Hey George!" strips the music away and leaves you with a gorgeous beat track perfect for extended mixing potential.

Hailing from the mists of the early 90s UK techno scene, Ramjac Corporation's "Cameroon Massif!" epitomises everything great about the anything goes spirit of the scene prior to firm genre boundaries being established. Emotional Rescue have done the right thing and brought the vintage curio back to light, and what a return it is. While it shows its age, it sounds in fine fettle, all rolling breaks, trancey zaps and mysterious vocal hooks that positively draw you into a transcendental rave headspace. Both the "Massive" and "Massing" mixes are essential, but then you also get the added bonus of a live version from a reunion gig back in 2009.

The subject of Music From Memory’s latest compilation focuses on Suso Saiz’s output as part of the group Orquesta De Las Nubes, formed by Suso Saiz and percussionist Pedro Estevan when the two met whilst studying a course on ‘Techniques of Contemporary Composition’ in Madrid. Following on from a retrospective compilation of solo work and an album of recent work in 2016, Music From Memory continue to explore the work of Spanish ambient and experimental pioneer Suso Saiz. Sharing a curiosity for American minimalist and Non-Western music, the pair began to share music through many listening sessions, during which the idea slowly evolved to try and make music together.

Here's a classic to those who know, that gets a much needed reissue by Running Back. Originally released in 1984, Syncbeat was a project by Craig Bevan and the lesser known Pete Ramon who were pioneers of UK electro and "Music" was definitely geared towards the breakdancing culture of the time. With its slap bass synths, sharp beats and jacked vocals, it's a real zeitgeist of early '80s street culture. The original remix was by none other than Greg Wilson, and it comes with a bunch of new renditions by another legend - Hamburg's Boris Dlugosch. He delivers some perspectives that add some much appreciated dynamics for modern dancefloors while remaining respectful to the original.
